What is your image of Jesus? When you picture him, what do you see? In my mind, he usually has a smile on his face, or his head is thrown back in laughter. Yes, he got angry (only with church people) and he took his teaching and work seriously, but I typically picture Jesus as smiling and laughing. I think Jesus loved life and loved living life with those around him. John records Jesus saying in John 10:10 that he came to give his followers a “rich and satisfying life”. Additionally, John records Jesus saying in 15:11 that he wants us to be filled with his joy; so much so that our joy is overflowing. Someone who wants to give us that kind of life doesn’t sound like someone who’s grumpy, crabby, and miserable to follow and be around. As his followers, we should be joyful too, not discouraged, defeated and cranky. John goes on to write in 1 John 2:6 that if we claim to be a follower of Jesus, we “…should live [our] lives as Jesus did”. I am passionate about helping people live like Jesus did. I believe learning about Jesus, living life as his follower, and attending church should be fun. I believe as Christians we should be joy-filled, and living out our daily Christian life should be fun. Yes, there are difficult times, and we must take following Jesus and obeying the Bible seriously, but pursing Jesus, getting to know him, and living life like he did should be fun. If you’re looking for a church home, I would like to invite you to journey with us as we pursue Jesus, his teachings and living like he lived. If you’re looking for the perfect pastor and church, we’re not it. But if you’re looking for a place to learn and grow, be real and loved, and have fun while doing it, then I’d like to invite you join us.
